We're above the system. Over it. Beyond it.
We are the Men in Black.
Nothing is what it seems. Ever.
James Edwards (Will Smith) is a cocky New York cop who
thought he'd seen it all...until he chases a suspect with six-inch
retractable talons and a peculiar habit of leaping twenty-five feet in the
air.
Later that night, Edwards is cornered by Kay (Tommy Lee
Jones), a shadowy man in a dark suit who asks a lot of odd questions.
Following this enigmatic stranger, Edwards learns first hand that the
creature he chased was just one of approximately 1500 aliens secretly living
on Earth in human guise.
Kay works for a covert agency that polices, protects and
monitors every single one of these visitors. The agency is called the Men in
Black (MiB)...and they just happen to have a job opening.
Kay brings Edwards to the super secret, ultra-futuristic
Men in Black headquarters, where travelers from all over the galaxy arrive
daily, seeking everything from political sanctuary to a brief respite on
their voyage. Edwards must then sacrifice all prior Earthly relationships
and assume a new non-identity as his name is changed to Jay, the youngest
and hippest MiB agent.
Now Kay, the deadpan insider who's seen and done it all,
and Jay, the quip-qitted rookie still awed by the reality that aliens are
everywhere, become the one team capable of saving Earth.
While investigating a string of illegal alien activities,
Kay and Jay uncover the deadly plot of an intergalactic terrorist bent on
starting a war between two opposing galaxies -- a war that places Earth in
the crossfire.
