Star Trek First Contact "TNG" Phaser - Sold Out The Phaser prop used in filming STAR TREK: First Contact was commonly known as the “boomerang” Phaser on the set because of its curved, ergonomic design. The “boomerang” Phaser prop was used as the primary Starfleet hand weapon in STAR TREK: First Contact and STAR TREK: Insurrection, and it was worn as a background prop in STAR TREK: Nemesis. It also appeared in several seasons of Deep Space Nine and Voyager. The first Phaser props with functioning power settings were created for filming STAR TREK: First Contact. The prop designers hollowed out a casting of a static Phaser prop to make room for the addition of electronics and a custom circuit board that provided the realistic functionality the producers wanted. The actors were able to power-up and power-down the Phaser lights by pressing buttons on the prop thus creating the illusion of a functioning Phaser on-screen. Features:

There are few science fiction props as widely recognized as the Communicator from the Original Star Trek television series. Designed to look like a piece of working 23rd century hardware, the original Communicator was actually the product of innovative 20th century design and the imagination of prop designer Wah Chang. In their quest to create the definitive Communicator replica, the Master Replicas design team conducted an extensive study of several surviving Communicator props. They took hundreds of detailed measurements and photographs to ensure they would achieve accurate geometric and color reproduction of the prop. They also interviewed the original prop makers and other recognized experts in prop design in order to develop a comprehensive understanding of the design, intended use, and functions of the original prop. The design team even located the actual reel-to-reel tapes of sound effects used on the original series when it was filmed at Desilu Studios. The authentic sound effects featured in the Master Replicas Communicator prop replica were digitally recorded from those original tapes. Because we are avid Star Trek fans, we wanted to create the ultimate replica of the Star Trek Communicator. We were diligent in designing a replica that is both true to the prop as it appeared in the series and highlights the many fascinating details that were not apparent on most television screens in the 1960s. The Star Trek "TOS" Phaser Prop Replica: Sold Out! The STAR TREK™ Phaser is one of the most famous science fiction props of all time. The design of this unique prop is both practical and visually dramatic. The classic Phaser is actually comprised of two weapons; the Type 1 Phaser (P1) and the Type 2 Phaser (P2). The P1 is a small, black, clamshell shaped weapon that can be used attached or detached from the P2. The P1 fits into the top of the P2, which houses an amplifier assembly that increases the power and range of the weapon. The handle of the P2 is a removable power pack that can be quickly removed with a simple twisting motion. Numerous versions of the Phaser appeared throughout the original television series. The shape, materials, and colors of the Phaser varied somewhat during the run of the series. Master Replicas has chosen to reproduce the Phaser prop from the second season of the series. Our designers took numerous measurements and reference photos of an original prop. The original prop was also digitally scanned in order to create a 3D computer model. Using all of the information gathered during their extensive research our designers created an engineering model that was an exact replication of the original prop.
